INDIA

Went to India a few years ago. Had a rail-pass
permitting me unlimited rail travel all over India
for a month, just like a Eurorail pass. Had to
validate pass at New Delhi main station. Up stairs
through corridors, finally found proper office.
Little old man behind big counter studies pass
disappears and returns with hugh old ledger book.
"Please sir, your name?" I give it and he enters it
in book with old ink pen. "Please sir, your address in Paris"? I give it ...he enters it.
"Please sir your telephone number in Paris?"
Here I balked..." I don't mind giving it to you
but why in the world do you need my home phone
number?"
"Well sir, someday I am going to retire and MAYBE
I will travel and MAYBE I will get to Paris and
MAYBE I will call you!"
