The joke of James Whitcomb Riley

Posted to WritersAndGenres

I became aware of this while viting the Riley home in the Lockerbie District of Indianapolis when I was living there. James was having a conversation with his literary friends one night and mentioned something about how the only way anyone can get published was to already have a famous name. To prove his point, being a regular practical joker, he wrote a poem completely in the style of Edgar Allen Poe, and passed it off, advertising it as "a found poem of Poe" and then it went nationwide. Riley admitted that he wrote it shortly there after, saying that he done it just for laughs.

Anyone that knows, speak up if this information was not accurate in some way or another, also anyone know the name of that poem?
