It works fine in theory, but pure capitalism would not work when applied to real humans in the real world. Plenty of people are corrupt, racist, and want to get the most profit from the least amount of work. In a society that functioned on pure capitalism, executives would pay their employees what they were worth. They would not steal or embezzle funds to get more for themselves. They would hire the best canidate for a job opening, regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender. Sounds great, right? But do you really think it would happen? One only needs to look at the way corporations function right now to see that capitalism, unchecked, simply doesn't work.

Our current economy certainly has room for improvement, but I firmly believe that a mixture of capitalism and socialism is the way to go.
