I wish people would stop referring to last year's tragedy as 9/11

Posted to Poetry and Politics

There's been a September 11th every year up to 2001 and there will be one every year for many years to come.

I really don't think that it does any good to remember the day as September 11th or 9/11.

Will history books have a chapter on 9/11?

Is it right to remember it as a number? the day when so many were tragically lost?

We should certainly keep the day in our memory, but why keep calling it 9/11?

I for one don't want to look back on a tragedy as a number that was put in bold on every newspaper, magazine, and news station for effect.

I felt that if they hadn't stopped calling it that by today I would come out and say something.
