Who am I, what's the reason for my being here?
I've asked poets, practitioners and philosophers each the leader of their kind
I went looking for answers where there were no answers

Who am I, whats the reason for my being here?
I asked the poet in the streets of Paris
he sang out in words of great beauty
"You are a spirit wild and free, brought here to seek out the most beautious things."
Drive on he said, let your soul fly and live in the name of art
I went looking for answers where there were no answers

Who am I, what's the reason for my being here?
I asked a practioner of Harley street the finest of his field.
He told me "you are body, flesh, blood and bone perfected in form and function"
I went looking for answers where there were no answers

Who am I, what's the reason for my being here?
I put my question to a great philosopher, the most powerful mind of his generation
You are the highest of all beings for you are mind free to be that which your will would make you
I went looking for answers where there were no answers.

Who am I, what's the reason for my being here?
I inquired of the face that peers out each morning from the looking glass.
Here I found my answer, I am all of these spirit, body and mind.
So I found where to search when I need an answer.
I am me this much is true,
I am me, but who are you.
