you've crucified eternity,
left her waifish form
to hang lopsided on the wall.

skin full of splinters,
we pick the jagged edges
from our fingernails,
feed unfinished sentences
to our starving children.

wrapped up in silk,
i'll bear your cross.
plastic flowers collecting dust
in the black vase,
catty-cornered, on the endtable.
