happy halloween, hester!

Posted to Action Poetry

A great time
when oak trees grow fingers
and shadows linger
where the families have left
with their candy in bags and pillow cases.

And kids crawl out in the moonlight
and shout around bonfires
and half barrells
and punch bowls
and bottles
and cans.

And cats
rise from the Micmac graves,
pale as childish frights
and thirsty as a soft skulled dog
on a dry day
of autumn.
