you refer to the Krakow the visitor see - Stary Miasto (the old town), Kazimierz etc. Most of my friends there live in the suburbs built from the 1960s onwards. I myself lived in a tree-lined street of art deco villas to the east of the town centre. To me, that is as much the real Krakow as the little streets and squares of the old town.

Oswiecim not changed? I take it you mean the camp not the town. The town is visibly made up of structures built from the 1950s onwards...
