Prose and poetry:

in "A Map of Mexico City Blues: Kerouac as Poet", James T. Jones points out that Kerouac himself in one of his books described a conversation between him and Corso in which Corso tends to state "everything is poetry" whereas Kerouac seems to draw the classical dividing line between prose and poetry - and the "validity" of this statement is discussed by Jones while analysing Mexico City Blues (the "long poem") in comparison to Kerouac's prose/poem-jazz riffs with very long lines.
i agree.
and/but i really love (Kerouac's Sea and Old Angel Midnight and)the poetry of dPrima and Lamantia...(-and, in some other, more realopolitical, realm, that of Ginsberg, and hippydom in Snyder, etc etc.)
