He's one of my favorites also. I love the dharma bums and his book of haikus. Though I did find otr a bit dry, I still liked it. It was able to conjure up emotions in me. I was lucky enough to live sort of close to lowell ma. (worcester) and met some of his extended family.
Apparently some of his family still considers him to be an outcast. The guy was amazing. One of the great American poets.
