I'm just now reading a collection of poetry and other writings of Gary Snyder, ( ol dharma buddy of kerouacs ) called Lookout, in reference to his days up in Washington State as a fire watch.Some of the other writings in this book describe Snyders days as a Zen student in Japan ....very inspiring.
