I had a conversation with a friend earlier today where I felt that Western philosophy has been weakened by disallowing paradoxes to exist freely that the we fight vehemently against them. Our Eastern counterparts readily accept them. I will say that both sides of you question is right. Words are real yet phantasmal. They are reality and not real. It is in these pardoxes (antinomies) where veritas is found.
