pretty much the way I feel

Except I don't think the Bush administration will be voted out, unless the war is over by then. The majority of Americans don't swap horses mid-stream.
And then I fear the possibility that there won't be an election in 2008.

The US has survived many crises that threaten its republic, and this is another. But then, for anyone to say "it's survived all these other times, surely it will now" would be like "I survived being struck by lightning all those other times, surely I will now."

America has been running on good luck, an excellent Constitution, and an indominatable spirit.

That spirit is getting soft. The Constitution is under attack. And everyone knows how fickle good luck is.

I'm afraid.
I'm very afraid.
And anyone else who is a patriot should be as well.
