straight facts

there are a lot of conspiracy theories out there..... having previously been a die-hard fan of the x-files, there's a certain draw for me there..... but more importantly, having most recently been an american living in america post 9/11, i pay little attention to conspiracy theories, and more attention to the straight facts...... i pay a LOT of attention to reputable alternative media sources now...... many of those sources are committed to exposing the truth and examining the facts..... in times like these, i just don't have patience for speculation.....

so, to comment on all theories you've heard - oil, corporate contracts w/ connections to the white house, 9/11 being allowed to happen - i've heard the same thing..... and it's indeed true that cheney, bush, and others stand to actually profit from the corporate contracts that were signed by companies who are going to "help rebuild iraq"..... i've read a few things about these contracts on salon.com.....

in terms of bush's main motivation for this war being oil, well, in my own opinion (informed from a lot of the reading i've done), i think it is his main motivation..... there's a lot of money that stands to be made over there, a lot of glory for finishing what his dad started, and a lot of ego to be fed (ie, america is the strongest! the best!)..... i have yet to see bush do ANYTHING that benefits human life - in this country, or anywhere else in the world..... he's run rampant with all sorts of important issues ranging from the environment to women's rights to choose...... he's REVERSED important legislation that worked to protect both the environment (drilling in a protected alaskan wild life refuge for oil anyone?) and women's lives (abortion is not allowed to be mentioned as an option for 3rd world women seeking reproductive care that we fund, and now late-term abortion has been banned for women in this country)...... i see him as someone with a completely narrow and unenlightened perspective on the world....... he's totally lacking in benevolent vision or good-will for the future.....

his decision to wage this war is just further testimony to his lack of common sense and morality..... if you read any of the alternative presses following 9/11, there was a lot written about WHAT drove the people of al queda to such hatred for us (americans)..... an answer that came up time and time again was our foreign policy - our policing of the world..... we behave as though our way is the right way, and we think it's our DUTY to inflict our "way" on the rest of the world..... how would WE feel if some other country tried to inflict their vision on US? not so good i think..... so the fact that bush not only tried to justify this war by linking it to the "war on terror", but also gave as an excuse the weapons of mass destruction saddam SUPPOSEDLY possesses (which weren't found or proven by the UN - and that's a fact) and then BAILED OUT OF the United Nations process, shows he has extremely little regard for the future of america..... indeed, his actions are breeding more radicals who will hate us..... why? because we're doing what they hate - policing the world..... we're trying to spread OUR vision of what's right through force, instead of through peaceful means, instead of through a coalition of countries in agreement.........

this war came out of nowhere..... not a lot of people are talking about that, and that's because the mainstream media was quite successful at spreading bush's word that this war has to happen because it's part of "the war on terror"...... bush literally conjured the call to war out of thin air..... read the alternative presses (the nation, commondreams.org, salon.com)..... as a free-thinking american, it's the most patriotic thing you can do.....
