i think that my feelings about Levi’s end are more wishful thinking because i was so overwhelmed by the sense of optimism in even the darkest of his works. i’d prefer to think that this old sick guy simply passed out after walking up flights of stairs and fell to his death rather than jumped. guess we’ll never know but suicide or accident doesn’t obscure the fact that his writing is some of the most beautiful and life-affirming in any language 🙂
