The Tao of Physics

I just read the second edition of Fritjof Capra's book and was pretty blown away. The physics what was known through 1980 and i am wondering if any new discoveries are in compliance or opposistion to the ideas of east meeting west. Are there any other writers dong similar work today? others that i should read in the search for a universal world view that fits together the philosophies of the world
