Mother Nite

Posted to Poetry

waiting for someone
in an endless sea
amidst the freaks and the divine
and the carnival rides

but all the voices
are voiceless

all the faces
are faceless

except for those which ring in mind forever

and i cried, with arms stretched out;

'Mother night!
bring me your restless souls alike
bring me the divine
bring me the fruits of my suffering

'It is you, o mother night
which has brought more light than any sun
your piercing stars
and restless moon
have filled a thousand hearts

'you have always been there to bring out the madness;
to take apart the sadness; and
shine with all your might
to bring about the endless night
the forever flight
which could send the hearts of all hearts
into sweet oblivion
