Despite my usual distaste for "young adult" novels, Perks is one of my favorites. Charlie's innocence probably struck me the most, as I'm currently younger than the character is supposed to be and (in my view) far less naive. Not to say innocence is necessarily bad, as it helps to portray Charlie as someone who always has good intentions despite being imperfect (human).
