My post referred to a single human individual I once knew, not to Ayn Rand. This person styled herself an Ayn Randist and moved through the world announcing this purported identity often.
Describing my friend in retrospect, I believe she saw herself as a kind of heroic figure, larger than life, lacked all compassion for her fellow humans, thought that the end justified the means when it came to providing for her own happiness, believed in the nobility of work but not of sacrifice, and thought the whole time she was remaining completely objective. From her limited and selfish point of view, she was thoroughly convinced she was right. Welfare was , for her, only a temporary expedient until she overcame ( heroically) any need to provide for herself. That could well be ( she hoped) the result of her many business schemes, all of which had successively failed.
Contemporary Ayn Randists are well known for their defense of corporate America, as one can gather from their web sites. Therefore, subsistence on unearned increment, the eventual goal of my friend's "productive achievement", accords well with their goals.
Does that description differ fundamentally from:
"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
I'm not so sure that such non-objectivist description ( of my former friend) will come clear to a "Child of Technology."
I will say, in passing, that the quote from Ayn Rand is so filled with metaphysical, even mystical terms, that any pretense to "objectivism" in it is pretty silly.
As for intelligence or lack thereof, I refer you back to LR's message, and to the contention ( among Ayn Randists) that they somehow adhere to a "meta-view", which usually means that they think they are smarter than you are.
The same "meta-view" is claimed by the CIA, who, instead of staking out "pure intellection", "objectivism" or "reason" as their territory, use, as in their machinations with the Allende government, brute force.
You may wish to cure yourself of the possible contagion of "unintelligence" from reading my post by going here:
