Ahh, teen fiction...
alright, here's the deal.
I find myself enthralled with this book of my sister's, and though I generally try to read...well...anything she's not reading, basically, this on is actually pretty good.
The Traveling Pants
I think is the title.
Anyway, the four characters in it find this pair of jeans that somehow fits each of them, and the book just documents the various adventures they have in these magic pants in their first summer apart. It's a bit sappy at times, I'll admit, but there are some very funny moments, and feeling that I relate to. Also, throughout the book are smart and interesting quotations (one from James Joyce!) that i may steal to write in yearbooks, as i can never think of anything clever. Heh heh.
Anyway, despite being saddled with the yoke of a teen fiction novel, the themes of friendship, love, self-respect, and finding purpose make it a worthwhile read.
