fall again
the morning way
and tell us that you love
the earth more than heaven,
unless your soul
were a question
you dare not answer
from the freshborn
shadows of day.

then trust these words:
Orion, Taurus and Galatea,
half-charmed quirk of a nebulous supernova,
heart of an expiring angel
exulting
in the fiery footprint
of stars.

as if to speak from the sum of human knowledge,
mountainous peak of a pile of clay tablets and
parchment rotting, tower of babble-on,
persian astrologer, arabian nights.
