power plays (what do you all think)

As I sit next to her
In seminar.
She begins;
“That raises an interesting question”
Before sailing off on some
Uninteresting speech.
The professor smiles
After five minutes
Cutting her off to speak.

She has a ridge of flesh
Under her neck
Flapping-filling
With the air
She hisses
Like a fat old bull-frog
Hot to sing.

Her face red and bloated
When some youngster
makes a point.

As she talks
A fly lands between us
Rubs its front legs together
Scrubs its head clean
Gently wipes its florescent-filmed wings
And vibrates them to dry.

His hair-nerved legs
Instantly feel,
His million-mirrored eyes
Instantly see,
The old lady raise her hand
To crush him.

He rockets into the air
As the old lady continues
…talking
Flesh-flushed and
Face red.
