J. G. Ballard is not quite Beat, but definitely a contemporary / co-conspirator. his early disaster novels are sf (world destroyed by flood, by drought, etc), and his space age short stories are very cool (human psychology completely altered by failure of space race).
The Atrocity Exhibition (try to get the Re/Search edition) is wickedly cool, fragmentary, hallucinagenic, and obscene ("Why I Want to Fuck Ronald Reagan"). and Crash has been called the ultimate sf novel.
