the scroll of on the road was available to scholars at the ny public library, i believe.

this is an interesting connection, i'd love to find out more about it. my favorite english teacher in high school was big on shepard and i fell in love with those stories.

upon watching "a christmas story" again this year, i'd been thinking a lot about shepard. in describing him to my girlfriend, i said he was a precursor to garrison keiler. and i found myself realizing that he was on radio long ago and wondered if kerouac had ever listened to him.
