It is colonialism not democratic pros·e·ly·ti·za·tion

The notion of bringing democracy to Iraq sounds great to a lot of people. You can hear yhem raving about it on national TV and in the conservative columns.

On a practical level, the Iraq experiment will take a lot of time and sacrifice to somehow change it and even when all is done and the occupying force leaves, noone can predict what will happen then. Obviously, this is a colonial occupation under the guise of bringing democracy. Colonial, because the ruling class of expatriots is the new elite. Me thinks it will come to this, but whatever happens, much blood and suffering has been the way.

Did it have to happen this way?
