I found this book startling in its originality and rawness of language but to me a lot of the passages were just pure pornography. Does anyone else agree with this? I did however feel it fully explained what it was like for a woman, as part of the Beat Generation, to be set adrift in a big city for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed the parts based in the MacDougall Street bookstore and felt this helped focus the novel within the context of the Beats. But does anyone else agree with me about the over-use of pornographic language?
