Is Kerouac Overrated or am I Nuts?

Hi LitKickers,
I know there's a great subjectivity to perceptions of art, but am I alone in thinking that Kerouac is really a pretty mediocre writer and thinker? I read beat lit/poetry as a teen and was attracted for all the usual reasons, but rereading On The Road later was a serious disappointment, even more so than other authors of the genre. Ginsberg less so for sure. If you still connect with Kerouac, what is it that you like? Maybe I'm just no longer able to get it.
