there are plenty of people who don't think kerouac is as great as everyone else thinks he is. i've only read a little bit, but it didn't grab me as much as i think it does others. i think that different perceptions and interpretations are what keep art and literature interesting. otherwise, we'd just all read the same things. which is boring. i don't think it has anything to do with you "getting it", i just think you have a different perception now. and that's fine.

i personally think that anyone who garners a cult following is probably overrated in some sense. but then again, i've never been a fanatical sort of person.

what writers/styles are you more into these days?
