A Mile into His Own
It is the wanderer that knows the lands.
He’s smelled the iron of tropical soils
And drunk the wine of Basque grapes.
He felt deaths grip on a Mexican wave
And touched light worthy for God in an alpine sunset.
Yet he has explored every land but his own.
It was only recently that this has changed.
An adventure is beginning and he is scared.
Never has he gone more than a mile into his own,
And never has he been so anxious to explore.
