Seemingly Sullen

Posted to Poetry

I may seem like a husk to you-
A sullen girl who hardly speaks
but always reads
or writes away furiously-
Curiously encased in a fervent reverie
But my many parts outnumber
any expectation
of which you could conceive-
Oh, wish that the world didn’t
hang on me and wear me down
to the size of a pebble-
eroded by the strain and the weight
of this tensure world
I keep the hate at bay
yet its coals are still ablaze-
an insidious whisper inside my veins-
they will not quiet;
Never those insistent voices
