you don't quit on politics
just don't focus on what bothers you about it until you completely understand the different political and social theories that are out there. I stress this book so many times but I will again, because it is an EXCELLENT source (especially for those like yourself who is disheartened by the today's politics- I too felt like this until I read this book 3 years ago)

the book is:
The Individual and the Political Order
Norman Browne and Robert Simon

it is a must read if you want to find a political theory to relate to and it also helps you understand the pros and cons of the others. Plus after reading it, you can talk to anyone about politics and know exactly what you are saying. It furthers you tenfold, and I can almost guarantee you will want to learn more about the theories presented there and read up the ones that interest you.

I hope that helps you somehow

ps: great to see you, its been quite some time since we talked!
