i don't know any Goethe

but i just handed in a project on Chekhov today. unfortunately, this project was on The Cherry Orchard, but I can tell you this... a major Chekhovian characteristic is tension; the kind of tension that results from a deep inner turmoil. his characters always seem to have to put on a brave face in spite of their inner dilemmas. all drama is based upon conflict, but Chekhov's characters each have their own inner and individual conflict.

maybe there's something in that you could use?
