"i equate the fact that people will rape and harm as a consequence of human nature, not of politics."
i wasn't equating the nature of rape with politics. i meant that discussing nudity/sex/rape often turns into discussion based completely on personal opinion, much like political discussions do. they are usually devoid of fact and instead are based on sociological and psychological theories, so the only thing to do is to voice opinions, and if no one agrees, agree to disagree. that's why i related this discussion to political discussion.
"nudity is going to make some people rape. and i do think that rape would be more prevelant if we were all naked all the time. simply because you're going to have just as many crazies out there but much easier access."
this is the wall i hit when discussing this subject with most people. this wall also is the reason i responded to fp that people often lack concept of consequence and self-restraint, and this is why people blame--not their own sexual urges--but the people who present sexuality to them. sexuality is always there, people are always nude under their clothes, and a breast is a breast, whether or not the devious little nipple is exposed--but, as fp and i were discussing, it's not "bad". what's bad is what people do with it.
