i read stephen king

Posted to Utterances

all the way thru high school, and i'm still in a shuddering coma. one of the devices he used which made me jump was the way the narrator would address the readers directly by saying things like

"and i promise you, friends and neighbours"
or
"dearest reader"

he made me feel like he knew i was reading the book! which is maybe not such a huge presumption afterall, but coming from stephen king, it's just all that much fucken creepier. because stephen king is a fucken creepy guy.

the creepiest.
