Poets are shallow.
Poetry is shallow.
Trying to say what you want to say with one of your main concerns being "how it looks" or "how it sounds": that's shallow.
I think Oscar Wilde already pointed this out.
Poets want to be remembered for stringing great lines together. Sometimes a poet will stumble upon a little gem of a line and people will hold them up as a genius.
But make no bones about it: artists are shallow.
And that's me saying it.
It's 12noon, I've just woke up and I haven't had any coffee yet. I drink my coffee black now, just like a real man off of a film or something.
Mull that one over baby.
And know that, in this day and age, a poet is nowhere near as special as a rock n roll band and a poem is nothing compared to a really good film.
However, films and music are also shallow.
