now you've got me really confused, Levi

I agree that universals are the meat of metaphor
and poetry is devoid without them
just as politics is devoid without principles and ideals

G. Bush is simply a symbol. I don't think that he is the root of all evil. He is simply the patsy for all evil.

but when dealing in generalities it helps to have a face to put with your crusades. George Bush I turned a third rate dictator into a Super-villian before the world using nothing more than public relations tricks. His son tried the same ruse. He created a villian (Saddam) out of pure straw.

I don't by any means think that G.W. Bush is smart enough to be the evil mastermind of anything, but he is a symbol of a cadre of maniacs who are power-crazed and think they can rule the world. That's evil.
