Just minutes ago, a young girl took flight after her balloon,
as it blew down Buchanan Street in a breeze.
Passing shoppers tried to help catch it
but laden with bags they couldn’t keep up with the young girl as she sprinted on.

One eyewitness, a 34-year-old Glaswegian, said:
“It’s a poor wee shame. That lassies
big blue balloon blowing doon the street like that.”

Another witness, 73-year-old Maggie from Partick, said:
“This is buckin’ ridiculous so it is.
There should be barriers up, or sumphing’.”

It is believed the balloon took flight after the young girl,
aged 6, ran amongst the pigeons to chase them.
The balloon slipped from her hands and took off
down Buchanan Street heading towards Argyle Street.

Unconfirmed rumours suggest the balloon went under the wheels of a red Ford Transit van
and the deflated rubber was stretched and scattered
across the road just before the Central Bridge.
