actually, bronte is a 19th century female author or you could say she wrote in the 1800s.
also, i really can't stand the brontes or austen. (of course i'm not the biggest fan of hardy or dickens either). they bore me. most female authors bore me. it makes me feel guilty and not PC at all. i've tried to like them. willy cather was a complete and utter horror. sylvia plath made me want to kill myself. virginia wolfe is tolerable.
harper lee is great though. and i didn't really mind the song of solomon. and the short stories of women writers don't really bother me anymore than short stories written by men. ok, i don't feel guilty anymore.
