I'm able to force umlauts by using HTML code (ampersand, letter, "uml," semi-colon). However, if I subsequently edit these posts, the "edit" window displays the umlauted characters (not HTML code) and reverts back to ý unless I re-apply the HTML.
(I realize this might not be telling you much. But I always like as much information as possible when troubleshooting.)
