Still, I’m not sure what the point of the ‘ku is. If it’s a political statement, or poetic statement, in favor of the 5-7-5 tradition, I’m not sure anybody’s arguing against that, they’re simply saying it’s outdated, possibly anachronistic thinking. However, looking through every edition of The Haiku Anthology, you’ll find many examples of 5-7-5. Still, the point is they’ll–the anthologized haiku–use certain examples of craft that seem to be missing from most 5-7-5s.
