the first time through, but couldn't all this talk about possibly postponing the elections be construed as 'giving aid and comfort' to the enemy, if they read the possibility of postponed elections as an incentive to attack.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that the Bush Admin is giving a coded message to the terrorists; I am suggesting, facetiously, that the suggestion that elections may be postponed in the wake of attacks could be interpreted as weakness on the part of the US, and therefore incentive to attack, in the same way Republican's insist on lockstep support of all Bush's initiatives lest we show the terrorists anything but a unified front.
