Are you referring to me with the following?

"I love the come back to this: but you can never eliminate all bias! - as if I'm asking to eliminate all of it. How about just shinning some light on it for all to see? How about exposing it?"

If so, then I'm afraid we have a misunderstanding. I fully recognize that you're not asking for an elimination of all bias; and I thought I was clear in advocating the same approach: Shining some light on it. I think the difference might be that I don't believe bias can ever be fully exposed. I regard the problem as too complex to make black and white distinctions of bias vs. non-bias; so I don't expect "shining some light" to provide a solution, but rather to help us manage the problem. In this effort, I think that all of us -- suppliers, as well as consumers -- have a responsibility.
