Super-exciting Copyright Information!

Posted to WritersAndGenres

Not really, it's actually horribly dry. I know that with music, you can basically copy whatever you want, as long as you don't sell it. (There are some other stipulations, but that's the big one.) Most copyright basics are on-line here: http://www.loc.gov/copyright/circs/circ1.html. Also, copyright registration for literature is a nice easy DIY kindof deal. Last time I did it it was ten bucks and an easy form (which you can download from the Library of Congress web site). Hopefully, people with a problem will just complain and not decide to get litigous, since you aren't exactly making money off of their work, and this could be considered nice free publicity. Lots of books actually say they can be quoted in brief for the purpose of review.--violet9ish
