Back in December, I posted a note about the collaborative effort of Urban Word NYC and the New York Knicks to organize and promote a series of workshops and slams that culminated in the Knicks Slam Team. To follow up, I wanted to be sure to mention that the finals took place on February 1st and by all accounts, the entire program -- and the final event in particular -- was a great success. You can find a very nice write up about it here. The folks at Urban Word NYC have no time to rest, however, as the 8th Annual NYC Teen Slam getting underway in only a few days, on February 17th. We encourage you to check it out if you're in the area, or seek out and support your local youth in poetry.
