The flash of green
Shining between the cracks in the wall
Echoes of
Ballads
Lost in the leaves
And this whispering suggestion
Of fantasy
That penetrates concrete walls
The flash of green
So quick a pulse
I almost forgot to breathe
When the last aroma
of lingering lilacs
Faded into the dankness
of the unending hour
The vision
Of underground groves
And twining ivy
Crumpled
And the last leaf fell
Silently
