that thump thunt thump in the kitchen

the ghost was back
last night
late as I lay watching
a special on ufos
on the history channel,
that thump thunt thump
in the kitchen
a vigorous gurgle gulp
as the water cooler
burps all by itself,
the wind whips
up outside
& whirls the trees
the dog paces
back & forth,
whimpers,
yeah, how ya doin’?
I say,
& damn we’ll
never really
know what
happened
at roswell,
will we?
