they say there’s a lake
high up in the snow-encrusted andes mountains
where the cold, thin air is like background music
to the sun-bronzed, doe-eyed indiginous indians
who build grass huts on floating islands
made of reeds from the depths of the frigid waters
woven together and plastered with mud
and the floors move and sway under their feet as they walk
but motion sickness is not in their vocabulary
and they call it lake titicaca

my son calls it lake boobypoop
