a thorn beneath the thumb,
curdling glasses
lining bedposts
late night laziness,
carelessness.

cast out the pink dresses
of childhood,
wash the grass stains
and the sugar smile
assume the shaved legs
high heels,
and hopelessness.

set aside armour.
