i’ve had babies in june, july and september
i, myself, was an august babe

birth is a transformation
for everyone involved

i stopped making puppets in order to do the thing right.
i read everything
exercised in every mode i could find: yoga, dancing, physiotheraply, plus lamaze

i hung out with pregnant women to compare stories, experiences and bodies

you as potential grandfather can do similar…hang out with potential grandparents, already grandparents…

speak of your feelings and know that whatever you say will be magnified in the heart of your daughter

pregnancy brings out the most exponentially enlarged hormonal reactions

when i knew that going to a hospital could mean i’d lose control of such a major turning point in my life, i hired a private midwife, to make sure my birth would be how i wished.

i, therefore, was drugless (my choice) and arrived at the hospital when it was time (not before). The midwife was with me to judge when that time was.

the birth itself was me in total contact with my body. I used five finger breathing to keep me in focus.

When my daughter slid out, my partner caught her and cut the chord…we both smiled to see she was a girl. She was gorgeous and we picked her name when we saw who she was.

After that, i was so very high…and that stayed with me for about 9 months…throughout sleepless nights and almost constant nursing (kid was pig)

after that, i started to think of babysitters for periodic breaks from nursing and carrying her round in a snugli.

Birth was amazing, and motherhood a total experience of testing each step…

and let her decide what’s best.
