A Chipped Prescription

a pissed off dissipate
wears the suede of soft
persuasion and presumes
to take this occasion to quake
like a quaker making mistakes
gettin the shakes, doubles the stakes
just to put a little spice in the game.

Nausea is plausible but overmedication
is a better excuse when the dog bites
or the bee stings. or the system goes down
or the phone rings and if we’re still in love
when the swelling goes down
